Hi Team!

Hard to believe, but it’s already the last Weekly Update of September! As promised, I’ll be sharing with you some highlights of recent progress we’ve made on the development of our specialty hospitals – the TriHealth Heart Hospital on the Bethesda North Campus and the TriHealth Orthopedic Hospital at Evendale. Continue to look for these progress reports in my last Weekly Update of each month.

Heart Hospital Update: During the month of September, our steering team made up of physicians, operations and service line leaders, and construction/architectural design consultants held 2 of 5 planning meetings to begin to lay the foundation for the future development of the Heart Hospital on the Bethesda North Hospital Campus. To support this work, we are partnering local architectural firm, GBBN with Gensler – a nationally recognized space planning firm. Both have a successful track record of working with TriHealth, with Gensler having just completed a six-month master facility planning engagement for Good Sam Hospital, while GBBN completed the architectural design work for the soon to be opened Thomas Center. Together, these firms will assist us in completing a ten-year campus plan for Bethesda North along with the essential first phase—siting and integration of our new Heart Hospital on the Bethesda North Campus. In addition to our longer range campus and facility planning now underway, I’m happy to share we’re on-track to complete the following “phase I” projects by calendar year-end: expansion by four beds of the Cath Lab pre- and post-op space; consolidation of the two cardiovascular ICUs (currently on separate floors) into one space; updating of EP lab equipment in Room 4; and construction and equipping of a second hybrid operating room.

Orthopedic Hospital Update: This month, detailed construction planning work began on Phase I of the Orthopedic Hospital development which involves expansion of the central sterilization processing and operating room areas. We have partnered with STERIS, an equipment manufacturer, to determine the space requirements and other logistical details for expansion of our support central sterilization function. Just this week, KLH Engineers began a physical assessment of the hospital’s current equipment and facility infrastructure to ensure that any new hospital facility components integrate seamlessly with existing ones. And finally, work continues relative to finalizing the “clinical program” which will define the current and future demand and capacity requirements for the new Orthopedic Hospital.

Town Halls Off to a Great Start: Our fall series of local Town Hall sessions launched on September 15th and are now off and running – with standing room only at many locations! With the theme, “No Stopping Us Now!,” these Town Halls provide a great opportunity for all of us to connect with local leaders and team members, share our successes and challenges, and begin the new fiscal year with renewed energy and purpose to be our best and do our best as we continue our important work – as ONE TEAM – to get healthcare right for all those we serve! Included here are a couple of pictures from sessions taking place last week at our Glenway and Anderson locations. Town Halls run through October 15th – click here for the schedule of remaining sessions, and plan to attend one, if you haven’t already!

Keep the Momentum Going by Giving to the One Campaign Today
We’re off to a great start with our second annual One Campaign. Thank you to all of our team members and physicians who have already generously donated to the campaign to improve the health and wellbeing of those most in need. If you have not yet given to the One Campaign, remember all those who donate are entered into a system raffle for great weekly prizes, including tickets to Broadway shows, Bengals games, and more! And, one lucky winner will be drawn at the end of the campaign to receive a luxury vacation package worth $5,000!

LifeStyles Weekly Health Tip
This is the last week to register for WalktoberFest! This LifeStyles Challenge encourages team members to walk 50k steps per week (about 7,100 per day) from October 1st – October 31st. Team members who accomplish this challenge will earn $75 on their scorecard! Visit www.trihealthlifestyles.com for more information or to sign up.

Flu Shot Time is Here
All TriHealth team members – clinical and nonclinical – are required to receive a flu vaccination by November 1, 2019. It’s free, it’s easy and it protects our patients. As health care providers, it is our responsibility to do all we can to reduce the chance of spreading this common virus to our patients. Visit Bridge for full details on flu vaccinations, including a schedule of locations and dates for clinics.

Weekly Huddle Message: Excel
We strive for excellence in everything we do, including in safety, quality and service. To help us ensure we are staying true to our SERVE value of Excel, remember to always put our patients and customers first by taking action when a customer’s need has not been met, taking responsibility for service breakdowns and service recovery, and offering our guests priority in lines and elevators.
