Hi Team –

Spring is here, and with it, the much-anticipated official start of the baseball season! Later this week, we celebrate Opening Day for our beloved Cincinnati Reds – another encouraging reminder that better, brighter days are just ahead as we approach the end of this pandemic! Go Reds!!

Celebrating National Doctors’ Day!

Today, March 30th, is National Doctors’ Day, and never has this nationwide day of gratitude and recognition been more meaningful or important! We are beyond proud on National Doctors’ Day and every dayespecially the past 365 days – to honor and sincerely thank each and every physician who practices and cares for patients at TriHealth!! Their selfless dedication to the noble work of medicine and invaluable partnership with TriHealth have helped us continuously improve health and save lives, while never turning a single patient away throughout this historic global health pandemic! Without a doubt, we have the finest physician community anywhere – which is affirmed every year by Cincinnati Magazine’s Top Doctors edition – and we’re so grateful to celebrate all they do to “show up” for TriHealth and those we serve – THANK YOU!!

COVID Update

New COVID cases and hospitalizations have remained low and stable now for the past several weeks, giving us a continued sense of hope and optimism that we will actually be winding down this third and hopefully final wave, once and for all (see latest statistics in sidebar). I’m also happy to report that we continue to build momentum in our work to vaccinate the greater Cincinnati community! Last Monday, we launched our online scheduling at TriHealth.com/Vaccine, and appointments are filling up within hours of opening new slots. And by the end of this week, those ages 16 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine, further increasing demand. We pledge to keep scheduling three weeks out – a huge patient satisfier – for as long as we continue to receive guarantees from the state on future vaccine allotments.

Our COVID inpatient cases have remained low and very manageable with normal staffing over the past four to six weeks, so we are now able to officially and safely sunset the Helping Hands program for hospital staffing at the end of March. A heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to the many hundreds of team members and physicians who voluntarily worked more than 52,000 extra hours in the last six months to assist our clinical staff throughout the most severe COVID surge. Thanks to your heroic gifts and sacrifices, we never needed to mandate shifts or turn a single patient away, and we were able to ensure that every patient in need was able to receive the extraordinary care our community has come to expect!

TriHealth Way Investments in Our Team & Culture are Paying Off!

As we have discussed often, TriHealth is deeply committed to developing our people through the TriHealth Way and offering personal and professional advancement throughout the system, whenever possible. This investment in our people has enabled us to build a strong internal pipeline of uniquely qualified talent who embrace our culture and live the TriHealth Way. This now allows us to regularly draw from our own talent pool to fill key positions within TriHealth. As importantly, it gives us the opportunity to recognize and promote our own team members and leaders for their hard work and hands-on experiences and achievements! With that, I’m excited to share the latest example of this organizational commitment in action...

John Ward, SVP of North Operations, recently announced that London Quicci, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bethesda North was leaving TriHealth to pursue other opportunities. We wish London well, and have since been working hard to identify and select the next leader for our Bethesda North Hospital Campus. Given the breadth of leadership talent developed within TriHealth over the past five years through the TriHealth Way, we made the decision to first focus our search exclusively on internal candidates. And I’m pleased to announce that following a collaborative internal search and selection process that included many rounds of interviews, Jamie Easterling has been selected to serve as the next President and COO of Bethesda North Hospital. As many of you know, Jamie has capably served as President of Good Samaritan Hospital for the past two years, and before that, he served for six years as Executive Director of Good Sam. These roles have prepared him well to take on the responsibility of leading a large and growing hospital like Bethesda North.Jamie’s transition into this new role will open up his position at Good Samaritan, and once again, we are focusing on internal candidates to fill this vital leadership role for our system’s other nationally recognized tertiary care teaching hospital. The search is already underway and we expect to provide an update on this next leadership appointment very soon. Please join me in congratulating Jamie on this well-earned appointment and thanking him for stepping up to take on this important new responsibility. It takes a great team to make a great health system, and our team continually proves we have the GREATEST team anywhere! Thank you for all you do – day in and day out – to lead the way in getting healthcare right for each other and our community!
