Hi Team –
I hope you had a chance to celebrate all of the wonderful mothers in your lives last weekend in honor of Mother’s Day. And to all of our very special mothers here at TriHealth, a BIG thank you for the exceptional care and service you provide to those we serve – and for all you do for your loved ones!

This is also National Women’s Health Week, an annual observance encouraging women and girls to make their physical, mental, social, and emotional health a priority. And this is especially important for women working in healthcare who devote so much of their time and energy – both at work and at home – to caring for others. In support of Women’s Health Week, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Belonging (DEI+B) team interviewed Dr. Anthereca Lane, TriHealth Women’s Services OB/GYN (pictured right), for her insights on the importance of women’s health. Fostering an Engaged Team Member Culture – Recap of Healthcare Heroes Week

Throughout the week, we also held friendly competitions to show off our TriHealth spirit and hosted trivia with cool prizes for the winners. In addition, we celebrated 10 Unsung Heroes – team members whose dedication and quiet, selfless service may go unnoticed, but deserve to be recognized and called out. The Unsung Heroes and the team members who nominated them each received $100 gift cards. In total, we received more than 400 Unsung Hero nominations – a great testimony to the incredible impact our team members have – not only on our patients but also on each other! Click here to read about – and be inspired by – all 400 of those nominated.
We ended our week with a focus on wellness and wellbeing through a livestreamed, guided meditation. But perhaps my favorite part of Healthcare Heroes Week was rounding with other senior leaders throughout our system to personally thank and connect with hundreds of our amazing team members and physicians! I had the opportunity to visit and talk with team members at many of our TriHealth locations, including Bethesda Butler, Bethesda North, Good Sam, and McCullough-Hyde Hospitals, as well as Western Ridge, Arrow Springs, Liberty, Norwood, and Baldwin. At every site and in every interaction, I was struck by the incredible energy and enthusiasm of our team members and the deep commitment to our TriHealth culture and our work to Get Healthcare Right! So, the “jury is in!” You told me and other senior leaders loud and clear as we were rounding throughout the system that Healthcare Heroes Week is a “keeper” and should become a regular TriHealth tradition, even as we put the COVID pandemic behind us – and that’s exactly what it will become!! I look forward to meeting and talking with even more of you in the coming weeks as I make my way to our other TriHealth locations.
Speaking on behalf of our entire senior leadership team, this opportunity to round with you in your local work environments served as a powerful reminder that, without a doubt, we have the very best healthcare team anywhere!! And although the deadline for ordering your free 2023 Healthcare Heroes t-shirt has passed, we don’t want anyone to miss out on the chance to wear this super comfy shirt with pride! So, we’re reopening the order site until Friday, May 26 to give those who didn’t order their t-shirt one last chance. Click here to place your order by the extended deadline.
There are so many reasons you are truly heroes to our community, to our patients, and to TriHealth! And your leadership team put this video together to let you know just how grateful we are – not just during Healthcare Heroes Week, but all year long – for everything you do for those we serve and those we serve beside. Thank you for making TriHealth GREAT!
TriHealth Company Picnic Returns to Kings Island, August 27

And speaking of favorite traditions, it was announced at our Town Hall last week that due to the overwhelmingly positive response, our annual TriHealth Company Picnic will return to Kings Island for the second year in a row!! Mark Your Calendar! 2023 TriHealth Engagement and Magnet Survey: June 5 – 16
As we continue our work to make TriHealth a great place to work and to receive care, one of the best and most important ways we do this is by listening and learning from you, our team members and physicians. Over the years, the feedback you have provided during rounding, team meetings and huddles, town halls, and our ongoing engagement surveys, has allowed us to make significant improvements based on what you believe will help make TriHealth the best place to work, to practice, and to receive care. So, I’m excited to announce, your next big chance to share your feedback on how we are doing and how to make TriHealth even better is coming soon! From June 5 – 16, we’ll be conducting our 2023 TriHealth Engagement and Magnet Survey. In the coming weeks, you’ll hear more from me and your local leaders about the importance of your participation in this survey, along with many examples of how we’ve put your ideas and feedback into action to improve all aspects of TriHealth, so stay tuned!
Leading the Way for Behavioral and Mental Health
While we’ve finally emerged from three long years of the COVID pandemic, it has had a lasting impact on the psychological and emotional wellbeing of our society and many of us individually. And sadly, the growing mental health crisis in our country has too often been overlooked, undertreated, and underfunded. So at TriHealth, we have made it our mission to help lead the way in addressing this national crisis head-on – and from many angles – as part of our work to Get Healthcare Right. And with May as National Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s the perfect time to update you on our impressive progress in this vital effort.
Recognizing the critical need to reimagine and integrate behavioral health services into our population healthcare models, TriHealth has created a best-in-class ambulatory care plan, called Integrated Behavioral Health, that embeds behavioral healthcare providers into primary care and many specialty practices to ensure patients in need have timely and seamless access – without stigma – to high-quality behavioral health services. Thanks to the generous support of our partner and sponsor, bi3 (Bethesda Inc.), we continue to invest in this program to expand the Integrated Behavioral Health model to all of our Adult PCP locations, as well as other ambulatory patient populations across Pediatrics, Women’s Health, and more. To date, we have integrated behavioral health professionals serving more than 25 practices, with 12 additional practices incorporating behavioral health services over the next 12 months.

As innovators and thought leaders in advancing behavioral health through value-based care, Dr. Dallas Auvil, TriHealth System Chief of Behavioral Health (pictured left), and Jill Miller, President & CEO of Bethesda, Inc. and bi3 (pictured right), were invited to a roundtable discussion with the Cincinnati Business Courier to discuss Greater Cincinnati’s mental health landscape, the impact of health equity on mental illness, and how TriHealth is leading the way in responding to this alarming crisis. TriHealth Nurses Recognized with Torch of Excellence Nursing Awards

I’m excited to share that two TriHealth nurses – Kathy Roe, a Radiation Oncology nurse at Good Sam (pictured left), and Chava Vidal, a nurse at Hospice of Cincinnati, were each recognized at a special ceremony last Thursday with a Torch of Excellence Nursing Award – one of the highest honors awarded to Cincinnati nurses! Formerly called the Florence Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing, the Torch Award recognizes outstanding nurses in our region who deliver exceptional patient care and service. Kathy was lauded for being a positive role model for her nursing colleagues and for living our TriHealth Way Values in her work by consistently delivering patient-centered care and providing education to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Chava was recognized as a compassionate and respectful caregiver to hospice patients and their families. As a mentor and leader for hospice nurses, Chava developed a journal club for hospice caregivers to help them cope and learn as they provide care. A total of 27 TriHealth nurses and six TriHealth nursing teams were nominated for a Torch Award! Click here to learn more about the 2023 award winners.
Our TriHealth nurses were also honored last week at TriHealth’s annual Nursing Recognition Celebration at the Cintas Center. Visit Bridge to learn more.
