TriHealth Bridge

June 15, 2021

Hi Team –

What better way to help our community get vaccinated, then to bring the vaccines right to our favorite summer events? That’s exactly what our TriHealth Vaccination Team did last week at two Cincinnati Reds games! Just another creative way we’re helping our region boost vaccination rates and keep COVID cases low and steady (see sidebar). In fact, as you can see, we’ve reached another important milestone made possible by vaccinations – our current COVID inpatient census is just 8 patients, the lowest since March 25, 2020!!

We are also now offering vaccines to our patients being cared for in our flagship hospital emergency departments and inpatient settings. Doing so helps to build herd immunity, which will allow us to safely coexist with the virus, while continuing to fully enjoy life. Currently, just over 46% of the Ohio population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, and our Get Out the Vax regional campaign is aiming for 80% vaccinated by the July 4th weekend – a pretty lofty goal to achieve herd immunity! So please join me in continuing to encourage friends, family, and neighbors to get vaccinated, which will help ensure we can all return to “normal” and stay there!

Celebrating Juneteenth
Nationally, Juneteenth (short for “June 19”), or Freedom Day, is the annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, which occurred on June 19, 1865 (click here to learn more about the history of Juneteenth). As part of TriHealth’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) – and ultimately, social and racial justice – we are proud to both remember and celebrate historic events, like Juneteenth, that help to shape our nation’s history and social fabric, and which continue to inform our DEI work today. This year, our TriHealth Resource Initiative for Black Employees (TRIBE) is helping TriHealth and our community celebrate this momentous holiday through the following Juneteenth events:
  • Today, Tuesday, June 15 (4 – 7pm): Juneteenth Festivities will take place at Cincinnati City Hall (801 Plum St.) in collaboration with TriHealth Corporate Health and The Pavilion. TRIBE is volunteering at this event to help TriHealth provide the community with free COVID education and vaccinations, along with blood pressure and BMI screenings. Our Talent Acquisition team members will also be on site to promote employment opportunities within TriHealth.
  •
  • Monday, June 21 (12-1pm) TRIBE Monthly Meeting – WebEx Celebration of Juneteenth, which will include fun and educational Juneteenth Trivia and really cool giveaways! Click here to learn more and sign up for the celebration.
In addition to our TriHealth celebrations, we also encourage you and your families to participate in the many Juneteenth events taking place across the Tri-State, which you can learn more about by clicking here

Living Our Values as We Recognize Pride Month
As a faith-based organization that carries on the legacy of our founders, the German Methodist Deaconesses and Sisters of Charity, we remain fully committed to our values-led healing ministry to care for ALL people we SERVE with compassion, respect, and dignity – including and especially those who are underserved and marginalized in our community. And we do this just as the Sisters of Charity and Methodist Deaconesses did more than 100 years ago!

As the official healthcare provider of Cincinnati Pride, TriHealth aims to address health inequities that exist in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) community. And we do this by ensuring we offer the LGBTQ+ community access to the best healthcare in a safe, compassionate, inclusive, and welcoming environment. Through the sacred work we do in caring for our patients, families and team members, we are extending our love and care to the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, our PRISM Employee Resource Group (ERG) was created as part of our DEI work to foster a safe and inclusive workplace culture and support system for our LGBTQ+ team members, which you can learn more about by clicking here to view a short video featuring PRISM Chair, Noah Rowell.
