Laboratory Services volunteers with children from The Friars Club at The Freestore Foodbank distribution center.
Through volunteer hours, cash and in-kind donations, the Bethesda Oak Community Service Challenge contributed $34,215 to the local community.
The first of its kind, the challenge was organized by the Bethesda Oak Diversity Advisory Council and allowed departments and service lines to participate in a community service project, meant to strengthen TriHealth's ties to the community and encourage inclusion among all team members.
In total, a dozen participating service lines contributed 194.5 volunteer hours, which equates to $4,862.50 (based on a $25 per service hour conversion). In addition, $24,368 in in-kind donations and $4,991 in cash donations were collected.
The Service Access team received the grand prize: a check for $1,000 to give to Matthew 25 Ministries. In addition, three teams, SeniorLink, GSH Perioperative Services and Bethesda Oak Finance, were awarded $250 to donate to their charity through a random drawing that included all participating teams.
