Nern Ostendorf, director of Queen City Bike, and Larry Bloomfield, safety and risk specialist and TriHealth's volunteer bicycle commuter coordinator
Bethesda Oak has been designated a Silver Certified Bicycle Friendly Destination and Good Samaritan has retained its silver status from Queen City Bike, a local advocacy group for safe and healthy cycling in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
A Bike Friendly Destination certification recognizes schools, businesses and organizations for supporting those who ride a bicycle to their locations by providing secure bicycle racks and showers, as well as implementing policies and programs that encourage a culture of bicycle commuting.
Queen City Bike first established the certifications - which include bronze, silver, gold and diamond (new this year) - in 2011.
The designations for 2014-15 were announced as part of National Bicycle Month in May. TriHealth was recognized at a May 22 ceremony at Cincinnati City Hall.
