TriHealth team members, along with their friends and family, helped raise more than $82,000 and had more than 1,300 participants for the 2014 Heart Mini Marathon events held March 16 in downtown Cincinnati.

"We raised more money and had more participants than ever," said Jamie Easterling, Heart Mini Campaign Chairman and Executive Director for Good Samaritan.

"The success of the campaign had a lot to do with the great work of the Steering Committee and the team captains. We focused early on with making sure that all areas of TriHealth were included and the results were really impressive."

In total, the Heart Mini events generated more than $2.8 million for the American Heart Association, which will be used to fight heart disease and stroke, the nation's number one and number three killers.

Amanda Knight, Team Captain of "Registering Hearts" and an access associate at TriHealth Central Registration participated in the 10K walk with several people from her department.

"It was wonderful to see so many people that came out. Everybody had a grin, even though it was freezing! It was really neat to be a part of, and we'll definitely be back next year," she said.

Event organizers said more than 25,000 runners and walkers participated in Heart Mini events, made possible by hundreds of volunteers.
