TriHealth has been recognized nationally for its commitment to fostering skills and careers of frontline workers.
Our system is one of only nine hospital-based health care organizations in the U.S. designated a 2014 Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion by CareerSTAT, a national collaboration of health care leaders and an initiative of Jobs for the Future and the National Fund for Workforce Solutions.
The designation recognizes organizations that invest in the skill and career development of frontline team members, or workers whose jobs require less than an associate degree, such as a patient intake coordinator, medical assistant, certified nursing assistant or dietary service staff member.
Employers that invest in these workers benefit through lower staff turnover and vacancy rates, reduced recruitment costs and increased quality patient care.
"At TriHealth, much of our success depends on our ability to attract, retain and develop the talent we need to provide quality care," said John Prout, president and CEO.
"As an organization, we realize the importance of developing the skills of our team members; in fact, it is a major strategic initiative of ours as we strive to be an 'employer of choice' in our market."
Our Partnership with HCC and Programs Offered
In 2009, TriHealth partnered with the Health Careers Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati (HCC) to offer greater access to learning and foster advancement of entry-level team members. The HCC is a partnership of local health care employers, community-based organizations and educators.
Programs:
- Associate's Degree Cohorts - TriHealth selects participants with little to no prior college education to form a supportive cohort for degrees in nursing, surgical technology, respiratory therapy and medical lab technology. Cohorts provide employer-billed tuition, remediation course assistance and a career coach.
- School at Work - SAW offers on-site learning opportunities that enable team members to stay on track while on the clock to learn professional and academic skills, such as basic literacy, mathematics and interviewing.
- CareerCare - A web-based exploration tool, CareerCare allows users to learn more about health care career options. One hundred team members went through a pilot program and several entry-level participants have applied for promotions or enrolled in college.
