Save the date for the next Trauma Quarterly Case Review, "Two for One: Caring for the Pregnant Trauma Patient."

The review will take place Feb. 19 at Bethesda North, Golder Rooms I and II. A dinner buffet will begin at 6 p.m. and the program will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Speakers for the review include:

The review is free and geared toward physicians, nurses, social services workers, emergency medical services providers, paramedics, radiology technicians and physical and occupational therapists.

Objectives:

  • Identify the anatomical and physiological changes in a pregnant patient.
  • Discuss an exploratory laparotomy procedure and treatment of a hepatic laceration.
  • Apply physical therapy and occupational therapy processes to antepartum and postpartum patients.
  • Describe the process and planning for care and discharge of a mother and baby.
  • Explain the role of case management and social services for a mother and baby when addiction is involved.
