TriHealth Physicians and Administrative Leaders -

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott McCardle, MD, as our new TriHealth System Chief of Critical Care. This appointment is effective immediately on an acting basis and will be official with Board endorsement in early January.

Dr. McCardle was the unanimous choice for this role, following a thorough multidisciplinary review and evaluation process that included interviews with executives, physician leaders and peers. He replaces Craig Eisentrout, MD, who made the decision to step down from this role in order to return to his medical practice and continue serving in a number of other leadership positions at TriHealth. Dr. Eisentrout is a physician leader who is exceptionally invested in the success of TriHealth as evidenced by his years of service as a Trustee on both the TriHealth and Bethesda Foundation Boards, including serving as Chair of the TriHealth Board Quality Committee.  In addition to his busy practice of pulmonary medicine and his board leadership activities, he will focus additional effort in the expansion of the TriHealth Lung Nodule Program and Lung Cancer Screening Program.

Dr. McCardle joined TriHealth as a critical care physician practicing at Bethesda North Hospital in 2015 and has quickly taken on increasing levels of leadership responsibilities, including active roles in the Bethesda North Intensive Care Unit Committee, TriHealth Critical Care Operations Committee, and TriHealth Critical Care Council, among others. Most recently, Dr. McCardle served as Assistant Medical Director of the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Bethesda North Hospital, where he collaborated with Dr. Eisentrout to lead education and quality efforts for the TriHealth Critical Care Council. Dr. McCardle will continue to work clinically in our ICUs and serve in his role as Medical Director for the Minimally Invasive Training Center and Simulation Center.

Dr. McCardle is passionate about continuing the growth, expansion and success of the Critical Care Department and looks forward to drawing upon his experience – both at TriHealth and other healthcare systems – to bring new ideas and best practices to the table to help advance the program forward across our ICUs at all TriHealth hospitals.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. McCardle on his new role as System Chief of Critical Care, and thanking Dr. Eisentrout for his collaborative and values based leadership for the past two years.
