TriHealth Bridge

December 02, 2014

L. Thomas Wilburn Jr., former CEO of TriHealth, has been named to the 2015 class of Great Living Cincinnatians by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The award has been presented by the chamber annually since 1967. Recipients are chosen for their community service, business and civic attainment, leadership, awareness of others' needs and distinctive accomplishments.

Tom began his career with Bethesda in 1971 and served as President and CEO of Bethesda Hospital, Inc. for more than 20 years.  It was his idea to merge the operations of both Bethesda hospitals and Good Samaritan to form TriHealth, for which he served as CEO until he retired in 1998.

In addition, Tom worked to improve health care within the community, serving on many national and local boards. He helped create the Health Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati in 1992 and chaired it through 2006.

In 2003, Tom was elected chairman of the chamber board; he was the first from the health care sector to serve in that role.

This past February, Mr. Wilburn was named by the Cincinnati Business Courier as the winner of their yearly Healthcare Hero Lifetime Achievement Award.

The chamber will recognize its 2015 class of Great Living Cincinnatians at its annual dinner, Feb. 26 at the Duke Energy Convention Center Grand Ballroom. Other honorees are Herb Brown, Vickie Buyniski Gluckman and Buddy LaRosa.
