TriHealth Bridge

October 30, 2017

On November 15 and 16, leaders across the entire system will come together again to participate in our next quarterly Leadership Development Institute (LDI) at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. As you know, the LDIs are part of our system-wide organizational development program through which we are introducing, teaching – and ultimately, hardwiring – the evidence-based practices that define our new “TriHealth Way… of Leading, Serving and Delivering Care.”

Much of our initial LDI work over the past 18 months was – out of necessity – devoted to building the solid foundation and cultural framework required for lasting success in an ever-changing healthcare landscape of tough new realities. Following more than a year and a half of rapid, and sometimes “dizzying” change, we’ve now successfully implemented dozens of evidence-based leader and service practices. And early indicators tell us we are making solid progress with team member engagement and most of our other quality, service, growth and financial goals, which are at or ahead of year-one expectations. In fact, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) – one of our two sponsors – is using our TriHealth Way as a benchmark and a model for its own journey from good to great; and they have developed this kick-off video for their CHI leadership team, which will be shared with team members in President Mark Clement's October Monthly Update later this week.

Before we move on to the next phase of our TriHealth Way work centered around High Reliability, it’s important to first give ourselves time to master and fully embed in our culture all that we’ve already introduced – and that’s exactly what we’ll be focusing on at the November LDI.

The theme for our upcoming LDI is “Mastering the Skills, Leading the Way.” The goal is to help all leaders move from being consciously skilled – where we have to apply intentional effort to consistently use our new leader tools and practices – to unconsciously skilled, where these practices become second nature to us and are simply how we lead. To facilitate this continued growth and mastery, the LDI will include a series of general presentations, skill-refining workshops and breakout sessions – all in response to the needs assessment TriHealth leaders participated in earlier this month. We’ll also revisit concepts such as AIDET +the Promise, High-Solid-Low, the LEM, 90-day planning and more. Doing so will help us perfect and consistently demonstrate our evidence-based TriHealth Way practices, which in turn, will ensure we achieve our promise to deliver exceptional and signature patient and team member experiences across the system over the long term.

Returning to this LDI is Bob Murphy, who will lead a general session to re-ground our TriHealth Way work in our deeply rooted values. He will also provide guidance about how to continually improve our leadership skills and more directly connect our daily practices to our mission, our values and patient care.

In a few days, logistics information necessary to plan and prepare for the November 15-16 event will be delivered to all leaders This will include parking and venue details as well as instructions for downloading the app. Remember, engaging with your fellow leaders on the app is highly encouraged! Look for this information soon from Jenny Skinner’s team, and if you have any questions or need assistance please email ldi@trihealth.com.
