January 05, 2017
On January 25-26 our leaders will come together at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center to participate in the third TriHealth Leadership Development Institute (LDI). The LDIs are the system-wide vehicle through which we are introducing and teaching the practices that are defining our signature “TriHealth Way… of Leading and Serving.” And because of you, our progress over the past nine months has been nothing short of remarkable!
Since our first LDI in April, we’ve now standardized a number of system-wide best practices, including Leader Rounding, Stop Light Reports, Monthly Department Meetings, Always Behaviors (including “Hello in the Hallway”), Nurse Rounding on patients and a variety of team member recognition and engagement techniques. What’s most important about this progress is that our people and our patients are telling us it’s making TriHealth a better place to work and to receive care:
- In 2016, team member engagement scores increased more than 40-percentile points (from the 26th percentile at the end of 2015 to the 72nd percentile noted on our latest quarterly Pulse Survey).
- In October, after hardwiring “Daily Nurse Leader Rounding on Patients,” Good Samaritan Hospital achieved an HCAHPS overall rating at the 81st percentile, up from the 67th percentile scored in the first quarter of our fiscal year.
These encouraging early results would not be possible without you! You’ve done an outstanding job this year embracing new and better ways to lead and work together – and you’ve done so with an open mind, an eagerness to learn and a commitment to excel. And we're confident your efforts and contributions in the year ahead will bring even greater progress and even more impressive results.
Preparing for the January LDI
The third LDI will be held on January 25-26, 2017 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. The theme for this LDI is “The Power of People,” and it will focus on teaching and hardwiring a consistent, evidence-based approach to selecting, onboarding and developing the right people and talent –all of which will replace and/or enhance current practices. Specific topic areas will include:
- Behavioral and Peer Interviewing
- New Team Member Onboarding Practices
- Introduction of Behavioral Standards for Living Our Values
- Roll out of our new team member-led “Bright Ideas” program and practices
Specific details about event registration, pre-work assignments and other logistical information will be provided to leaders by the LDI team shortly. If you have any questions about the upcoming LDI, please contact Jenny Skinner, TriHealth LDI Council Leader.
Thank you to our leaders for your continued commitment to leadership excellence, and thank you to all non-management team members for supporting your leaders throughout this time of growth and transformation. We're all working together to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
