At the annual Association for Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC) meeting, TriHealth was represented by Medical Education residents and faculty.
Typically, five posters nationwide are selected by the AIAMC for oral presentation. This year, two of those posters selected were presented by TriHealth residents.
The first poster, "Education Interventions for OB/GYN Residents Caring for Opiate Addicted Pregnant Women," was based on a quality improvement project completed by the faculty and residents in the Ob/Gyn residency program. It was presented by fourth-year resident, Heather Phillips, DO and was awarded the Journal of Graduate Medical Education/AIAMC Outstanding Abstract Award.
The second poster, "Improving Surgical Resident Compliance with Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) Initiative Through Resident-Led Quality, Safety, and Service Council," highlighted the quality improvement project completed by the faculty and residents of the General Surgery residency program. Second-year General Surgery resident Mark Broering, MD presented this poster on behalf of his colleagues. It was the winner of the AIAMC Blue Ribbon Award.
In addition to these winning posters and presentations, TriHealth's David Dhanraj MD presented a poster on "Improving Post-Partum Care of Gestational Diabetes in Diabetic Patients," which was completed as part of his work within the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Scholars project.
