TriHealth is celebrating Certified Nurses Day on Wednesday, March 19, by honoring board certified nurses.
This year, more than 400 nurses are being recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care.
"Certification is a formal recognition of the specialized knowledge and skills demonstrated by the achievement of standards identified by a nursing specialty to promote optimal health outcomes,"said Mary Irvin, senior vice president and chief nurse executive of Patient Services at TriHealth.
"Through certification, nurses demonstrate their commitment to their professional development and to the patients they serve."
Board certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in the assurance of high standards of care for patients and families. Nursing - like health care in general - has become increasingly complex. A registered nurse (RN) license provides entry to general nursing practice and the knowledge-intensive requirements of modern nursing require extensive education, as well as a strong personal commitment to excellence by the nurse.
TriHealth encourages national board certification for all our nurses and covers the cost for certification examination and certification renewal. In addition, nurses are able to participate in review courses, supported in part by gifts made to the Good Samaritan and Bethesda foundations.
Join TriHealth and the nation's national nursing certification organizations in honoring those hardworking, dedicated, certified nurses for their professionalism and a job well done!
