TriHealth saluted its outstanding nurses at the Cincinnati Reds game Friday, July 11, when a group of 40 nurses and their guests participated in pre-game ceremonies on the field.
Nurses were randomly drawn from a list of Florence Nightingale and Director's Awards nominees and other award winners.
Nurses were on the field to display a large banner that said "Nurses are the Heart of our System" while the public address announcer read prepared remarks touting the high quality of TriHealth nurses.
Good Samaritan Emergency Department nurse Brittany Schnelle fired a strike over home plate to her co-worker Kristen Smith as part of the ceremonial first pitch.
Mary Irvin, senior vice president and chief nurse executive, was interviewed for a taped segment that ran during the game about TriHealth, TriHealth nurses and what receiving Magnet designation in 2012 has meant for the community.
