When Nicolette Hensley's boyfriend lost his mother to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, Nicolette received overwhelming support from her co-workers in Good Samaritan Laboratory.

Nicolette took up a collection for Team Tammy, a team formed in memory of Nicolette's boyfriend's mother, Tammy Wellik, for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Walk to Defeat ALS. With donations from her co-workers, Nicolette raised more than $100 to contribute.

"I feel very blessed to have so many amazing co-workers who helped support me for this cause," Nicolette said.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 16, Team Tammy had raised more than $2,550 for the ALS Association with a goal to reach $3,000 in donations. The two-mile Walk to Defeat ALS is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 in Winton Woods Metro Park - Harper Meadows. The event helps the Central and Southern Ohio Chapter sustain care services and support research for most of the year.
