Mission Moment | Vera Kirk-Jackson, Assistant Transportation Supervisor, Scheduling Supervisor, SeniorLink  

Vera Kirk-Jackson didn’t let extra hours on the job stop her from ensuring that a SeniorLink participant not only had a ride home – but also safe way to get inside.

On a recent rainy afternoon, a SeniorLink participant needed to be transported home after her stay in a nursing home.

Vera knew the driver could not safely walk the participant up the wet steps to her house. Rather than send the participant back to the nursing home for the night and disappoint her and her family, Vera stayed in the dispatch office for several extra hours so she could locate the participant’s daughter, who could then meet the driver at her mother’s home and help her mother inside.

Vera’s coworkers describe her as the “heart and soul of the transportation department” for SeniorLink, where she’s worked for more than five years.
