Now an administrative secretary for physicians of Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Services, Marlene started working at the hospital more than 52 years ago. On Friday, Aug. 23, she’ll retire.
An open-house breakfast reception will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 23 in the Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Unit’s Level 8 Inpatient Day Room.
Marlene started working at the hospital as a medical records clerk in 1961, and then took her current position as administrative secretary in 1964 when the rehabilitation department was newly dedicated. She even posed as a patient for a photo in the Newsamaritan newsletter.
Since then, Marlene has watched the hospital dramatically grow and change, but her friendships with coworkers have kept constant.
“I like the people I work with,” she says. “I’ve made a lot of friends over the years. It’s a great place to work.”
When she retires, Marlene plans to travel, volunteer and pursue one of her neglected passions – cake decorating. Overall Rating:
