When people think of Cincinnati, attention has focused on the transformation of Downtown and Over-the-Rhine. There are amazing things happening in those neighborhoods, including the coming streetcar. Yet, adjacent to the north is an area that is the workplace for nearly 53,000 people, offers entertainment for 1.5 million people, and delivers $11.6 billion in annual economic benefit to the region.
Uptown’s Renewal Is Dynamic
Uptown’s renewed vibrancy – its arts and dining attractions, and its mix of independent businesses and diverse culture – are unique in our region. TriHealth “lives” in the heart of Uptown and its seven neighborhoods: Avondale, Clifton, Clifton Heights, Fairview, University Heights, Corryville and Mt. Auburn. We are proud to be a founding member of Uptown Consortium Inc. (UCI), which is driving Uptown’s economic development and revitalization.
Unlocking the Potential of Uptown
UCI was created to harness the power of Uptown institutions such as TriHealth, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and the University of Cincinnati. Since its inception, UCI has delivered impressive results:
- Investing $200 million directly into real estate projects
- Attracting $1 billion in development investments
- Awarding $137 million in New Markets Tax Credits
- Helping build more affordable and market-rate housing
The coming I-71/MLK interchange will make Uptown an even more accessible community in which to live, work play and learn, and for a new generation to build their futures.
UCI enables Uptown residents to participate in this growth. Through its work with neighborhood leaders, elected officials and community organizations, UCI encourages diversity, creating both jobs and capital. This wrap-around approach helps sustain our work – a key tenet of what we do.
