TriHealth Bridge

January 20, 2017

 Hi Team –
Next week, on January 25th and 26th, TriHealth leaders will be off-site at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center to participate in the next installment of our quarterly Leadership Development Institute (LDI). The LDIs are part of the system-wide development program through which we are introducing, teaching – and ultimately, hardwiring – the practices that define our new “TriHealth Way… of Leading, Serving and Delivering Care.”

Since our first LDI last April, we’ve now standardized dozens of best practices that are making us a better system – thanks to your active involvement and the support you’ve given our leaders. Today, Leader Rounding, Stop Light Reports, Monthly Department Meetings, Always Behaviors (including “Hello in the Hallway”), Nurse Leader Rounding on patients and a variety of team member recognition and engagement techniques are common practice across our more than 140 sites of care. What’s most important about this progress is that our people and our patients are telling us it’s making TriHealth a better place to work and to receive care:

  • In 2016, team member engagement scores increased more than 40-percentile points (from the 26th percentile at the end of 2015 to the 72nd percentile noted on our latest quarterly Pulse Survey).
  • And in October of 2016, after hardwiring “Daily Nurse Leader Rounding on Patients,” Good Samaritan Hospital achieved an HCAHPS (patient satisfaction) overall rating at the 81st percentile, up from the 67th percentile scored in the first quarter of the fiscal year.

We are pleased you are finding the new TriHealth Way practices valuable, and appreciate your efforts and teamwork to make them successful for the benefit of our patients and each other!

The theme for the upcoming LDI is “The Power of People,” and it will focus on building the leader practices and skills necessary to identify, select and onboard the right people and the right talent to support our journey from good to great. We also plan to introduce our new Innovation Center and begin the launch of our new Team Member Bright Ideas Program. Following the January LDI, your leader will meet with you to share the new leadership and people practices learned at the LDI and begin to work with you to implement them in your area.

Thank you for supporting your leaders next week as they take the necessary time away from their daily responsibilities to participate in the upcoming LDI. This investment in strengthening leadership effectiveness through the TriHealth Way of Leading is a vital part of our work to make TriHealth a GREAT system – for our people, our patients and our community!!
