Last week, I was thrilled to receive the call once again from IBM to inform me that Good Samaritan Hospital has been named to the 2019 IBM Watson Health Top 100 Hospitals list, marking the sixth time our own Good Sam has received this coveted recognition for excellence. This national ranking is based on an objective assessment of publicly reported quality/safety, efficiency, patient experience, clinical and financial data and performance – the same way we measure and define our work in getting healthcare right by delivering better care, better health and better value for every patient we serve. And, as we continue to work with physicians and team members to map out and secure Good Sam’s continued essential role in greater

Cincinnati healthcare delivery, TriHealth has engaged Gensler Consulting to assist us in creating a master facility plan (MFP) to guide continued development of the Good Sam campus in coming years. This plan will serve as a 10-year “road map” to address the hospital’s facility and space needs to improve our patient and team member experience and to help inform decision-making related to the ongoing clinical growth on the Good Sam campus. Finally, thanks to the work of our Neuroscience Center of Excellence at Good Sam, we submitted our application for a Comprehensive Stroke Center Designation two weeks ago. We anticipate a validation site visit this summer and are confident we will achieve this designation by the fall of 2019. Good Sam will then serve as our system’s comprehensive stroke referral center, delivering – when necessary – the most complex stroke care in support of our other TriHealth hospitals and emergency rooms. A big thank you to our dedicated Good Sam physicians and team members who earned this “Top 100” recognition – you make all of us throughout TriHealth proud!!!!

Message for Huddles: Speak Up for Safety

“Speak Up for Safety” is a high reliability tool which encourages team members to voice their safety concerns. Many serious safety events could have been avoided if a person in the room knew something wasn’t right and had been empowered to speak up. We are accountable to do the “right thing” and report problems, issues, or concerns! In your huddles thank team members for speaking up with safety concerns and encourage people to speak up during their day-to- day work if they are concerned.

Focus on ALWAYS Behaviors

To help hardwire our ALWAYS Behaviors, SOAR encourages all departments to focus on behaviors to consistently excel at over a two-month period. For March and April, the focus is Service Recovery. Check out this video to see great examples from team members and visit LinkNet for more information.
