Nearly every day, someone writes to express their gratitude for the care offered a family member by a TriHealth nurse. I love reading and sharing these notes with our team. Our nurses are the heart of our health system. Their dedication allows us to deliver the coordinated, compassionate care that enhances our patients' experiences and helps them live healthier lives.
Nurses Are Most Trusted
When asked which profession they think is the most honest and ethical, Americans ranked nursing number one in a recent Gallup poll. In fact, nurses have topped the list 14 of the past 15 years.
TriHealth nurses are sharing their knowledge with other health care professionals through publishing and giving presentations across the nation. Their passion is not going unrecognized. Recently, TriHealth nurses Lindy Mathes, David Sens and Virginia Summe were named winners of Florence Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing, one of the profession's highest honors.
Nurses Are Highly Specialized
Skilled nurses give expert care for patients with specialized needs, such as cardiology, orthopedic or oncology. You'll find Advanced Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners caring for patients throughout our hospitals, clinics and physicians' offices. You'll also find Outreach Nurses teaming with churches across Cincinnati to provide dedicated outpatient care and illness prevention right in the community.
New treatments, new technology and a constantly evolving knowledge of diseases challenge every nurse to continue to learn. But technology does not replace the critical thinking skills that every great nurse has in abundance. Nurses still rely on their clinical assessments and on their judgment to make the right decisions for each patient.
Transforming health care requires a continuous commitment to make a difference. Thank you to each and every nurse in our community for helping make that possible.
