TriHealth Bridge

December 13, 2016

Hi Team –

Earlier this year, TriHealth began a thorough search and evaluation process to identify and select a permanent, more cost-effective and functional home for our TriHealth System Office, currently located in the Oak Street facility, owned by Cincinnati Children’s.

This process provided us an opportunity to comprehensively evaluate the evolving needs of the TriHealth System Office – as well as our emerging need for additional space to house other system shared services and resources. We also took into account numerous factors, including maintaining support for the Uptown Consortium, our strong and historical relationship with the City of Cincinnati and what was best for TriHealth’s long-term operations.

I’m pleased to share that after an extensive evaluation of more than nine viable options, including new construction and existing facilities, we have made the decision to relocate our TriHealth System Office to the Baldwin Office Building located on the historic Baldwin Piano Campus in Walnut Hills – approximately one mile from our current location.

The selection of the Baldwin Building was based on:

  • Cost (lowest cost option evaluated)
  • Space design flexibility for long-term occupancy
  • Central proximity and ease of access to and from our other TriHealth locations
  • Minimal disruption/travel time adjustments for System Office team members
  • Ability to relocate as quickly and seamlessly as possible

Moving to the Baldwin Building will enable TriHealth to save nearly $2 million annually compared with the current Oak Street Campus costs, and relocation can be accomplished in the shortest time, just 12-18 months. The new system office will occupy roughly 125,000 square feet of space. We are grateful for the support of Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and his team, and are thrilled to be able to keep our system office in the city, just minutes away from our founding locations. We plan to complete the relocation from our current Oak Street location to the Baldwin Building in early to mid 2018. Until that time, System Office operations will continue at the current location.

The selection of the Baldwin Building is a shining example of our Operational Excellence “value creation” work in action, enabling us to reduce costs, while improving system operations and workplace quality for our people. The Baldwin Building is an ideal environment to support TriHealth’s transformation into a fully integrated system of exceptional care – a system that will thrive in an environment of greater accountability for value and improved health. I’ll share updates as we have them on our new space planning progress and relocation timeline.
