Recently, I wrote about TriHealth launching an innovative new health provider network called the Midwest Health Collaborative (MHC).
MHC is focused on delivering better care and lower costs through an unprecedented collaboration among six leading health systems throughout Ohio. TriHealth is pleased to work with the Aultman Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio Health, Premier Health and ProMedica on this collaboration.
Together, we believe the U.S. health care delivery model is not sustainable. That’s why MHC’s approach is based on hospitals and doctors being incented to meet quality and outcome goals for an entire patient population - not just patients actively seeking health care.
How MHC Will Help Employers
In a few short months, talented clinicians across MHC already are beginning to work on identifying best practices and sharing data to improve the patient experience and unlock cost savings. We also have three initiatives underway that will benefit employers and our communities:
- Developing a provider-driven, statewide network with health, quality and cost solutions designed to deliver value to self-insured Ohio employers with a statewide footprint. This provider-led and supported network will offer employers better clinical quality and control over health costs.
- Jointly managing care for Medicaid recipients through Paramount Advantage, which provides a range of health care services to eligible Ohio residents.
- Establishing the MHC Innovations Cooperative, which integrates data analytics and best practices in the health of large groups, including team member populations. This work will identify new ways to improve outcomes, reduce employer expenses and create best-in-class wellness initiatives and corporate health programs.
With more than 100,000 team members, MHC is becoming its own innovation incubator - incorporating best practices from our members and associated clinical programs into our offerings. We expect the next 18 months to be incredibly exciting as we roll out these new initiatives.
