Hi Team!
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, as we honored all those who lost their lives in brave service to our country. Hopefully, you also enjoyed some fun times with family and friends in celebration of the unofficial start to summer!
At TriHealth, May was an especially busy and productive month, with a number of important milestones accomplished on our journey from good to great. Following are a few key highlights summarizing this month’s progress:
TriHealth Way of Delivering Care launched at May LDI. On May 2-3, our system leaders took part in our eighth quarterly Leadership Development Institute (LDI). This LDI launched the next phase of our TriHealth Way work, which is focused on delivering the safest possible care and, ultimately, becoming a “High Reliability Organization” (HRO). Day 1 of the LDI was the first of what will become a regular event – our Annual Safety Summit. Your leader will be sharing more information with you about our high reliability work, including plans for team members’ safety training, coming later this year.
May Team Member Forums bring system leaders and team members together to talk plans and progress. A few of our system leaders and I had the pleasure of spending time with more than 5,000 team members during this month’s Team Member Forums, which took place May 8-17. During 11 on-site Forums and a live-video streaming session, we had the opportunity to review FY18 progress and the work ahead, and discuss what’s on your mind. From the Q&A sessions and the Forum survey results, we were pleased to learn that team members consistently feel TriHealth is headed in the right direction and that the TriHealth Way is making a positive difference for our patients, our system and each other!
TriHealth team members selected to accept our IBM Watson Health national awards at 100 Top Hospitals® Summit 2018. Once again this year, we wanted to provide deserving team members with the opportunity to accept, on behalf of TriHealth, our 100 Top Hospitals awards and our 15 Top Health Systems award. This month, we received more than 50 nominations from team members for the six spots available. We are very proud to be sending Ashley Cox, MSN RN (Good Samaritan Hospital), Joe McCann (Good Samaritan Hospital), Robbyn Mayall (Bethesda North Hospital), Lea Peacock (Bethesda North Hospital), Constance Zimmer (Bethesda Family Practice), and Renee Kandra, RN (Hospice of Cincinnati) to West Palm Beach, Florida in mid-June to represent our entire TriHealth team as they accept these awards. Brett Kirkpatrick, our Executive Director for McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital and Bethesda Butler Hospital, will host our team in Miami. Fewer than a handful of health systems in the U.S. are honored with both a Top 100 Hospitals award and a 15 Top Health Systems award – and all credit for this remarkable achievement lies with our team members and physicians who, without a doubt, are what make TriHealth great!!
National Hospital Week & National Nurses Week marked by festivities and fun in celebration of our people. May 6-12 was a week of recognition and appreciation for our dedicated nurses and team members who consistently go above and beyond to provide the very best care experience to every individual we serve – each and every day! We hope you enjoyed all the well-deserved celebrations in your honor!
Board approves TriHealth Strategy refresh and 2019 Annual Operating Plan & Pillars Goals. Following a three-month annual strategic planning process involving our entire TriHealth Integrated Leadership Team, I’m pleased to share that the Board approved our strategic plan refresh and 2019 Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Pillar Goals, which take effect on July 1, 2018 – the first day of our new fiscal year. My June Monthly Update will be devoted to sharing the details of our FY2019 plans and next steps which will guide our work in getting health care right—better care, better health, better value.
Population of patients whose health is managed by TriHealth providers swells by 10% over past six months! As part of our journey to get healthcare right, we are working to continually expand the population of people we serve, so we can take greater accountability for improving care, improving health and improving value for our entire community. I’m thrilled to share that over the past six months, we have made remarkable strides in this area – increasing TriHealth’s attributed population of patients from approximately 226,000 to nearly 250,000! This is a very real and meaningful indicator that our vision-driven work to be the healthcare provider of choice for our community is paying off! More patients are choosing TriHealth as their trusted provider to help them get healthy and stay healthy! Thank you for your hard work and contributions that are enabling us to get healthcare right on our journey from good to great! Together, we are bringing our vision to life as we make TriHealth the place where people most want to work, where physicians most want to practice, and where our community turns to receive the best safety, quality, service, and value in healthcare. Keep up the great work!
