October 31, 2018
Hi Team!
Happy Halloween! Although “dress up” ghosts and goblins will be making their rounds today, there’s nothing scary about Halloween here at TriHealth, as we mark the end of another month filled with progress on many fronts and growing momentum on our journey from good to great! In the spirit of keeping things light on this day of fun and festivities, here is a quick run-down of October’s highlights:
WINS
- All 4 TriHealth Hospitals receive “A” Hospital Safety Grades in Leapfrog’s Fall 2018 Survey. For the first time ever, all four of our hospitals – Good Samaritan, McCullough-Hyde, Bethesda North, and Bethesda Butler (TriHealth Evendale was not rated due to insufficient data) – received “A” grades in Leapfrog’s national hospital safety survey! Congratulations to all of our exceptional physicians and team members who made this outstanding achievement possible – another shining example of our progress in making the TriHealth Way the ONLY WAY we care for our patients – every patient, every location, every time!
- TriHealth Physician Partners (TPP) Achieves All-Time High Scores for CGCAHPS and Care Retention in October. TPP’s efforts to adopt and embrace the TriHealth Way of Serving & Delivering Care are being noticed – and appreciated – by patients! TPP’s October 2018 patient satisfaction scores in the Press Ganey CGCAHPS (Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) were at an all-time high – 89.3%, and Care Retention also achieved a record-high percentage rate of 52.6%! Way to go, TPP!!
- TPP also achieves Elite Status at National Conference of America’s Physician Groups. TPP was recognized for Excellence in:
- Health Info Technology & Practices
- Care Management
- Accountability & Transparency
- Patient-Centered Care
- TriHealth receives Unqualified FY18 Audit Report from Ernst & Young! This achievement, coupled with the recent re-affirmation of our A+ credit rating, signals we are doing the right things to maintain a position of financial strength during this challenging era of unprecedented industry disruption and change – no small feat!!
Successful October LDI Focuses on Reflection, Renewal and Resilience-building. Last week, our 800+ TriHealth leaders participated in our 10th LDI, marking roughly the halfway point in our multi-year journey to build a unified high performing TriHealth culture by developing leaders and engaging team members and physicians through the TriHealth Way of Leading, Serving & Delivering Care. This LDI provided the perfect opportunity to look back on where we’ve been and how far we’ve come, as well as learn new techniques to recharge our energy and renew our outlook so we can be at our best for the continued journey ahead. Over the next few weeks, your leaders will share with you key takeaways from the LDI, including our plans to:
- Better support “work-life balance"
- Reinvigorate team member appreciation/recognition efforts
- Recommit to our TriHealth Way of Serving practices(AIDET+Promise, Always Behaviors, Courtesy and Respect & HEARD/Service Recovery)
- Continue training and adoption of High Reliability Organization (HRO)/Safety practices across TriHealth
System-wide HRO/Safety Training Takes Off! Since our May LDI HRO launch, we’ve educated our more than 800 system leaders on reliability and safety principles and practices. We’ve also now trained over 120 of those leaders to become High Reliability Trainers, in order to support the rollout of mandatory HRO/Safety Training system-wide, which began earlier this month, for all of our 13,000 TriHealth team members and physicians. I’m pleased to share that our Medical Education Committees at Good Sam and Bethesda North have unanimously endorsed the safety training requirements, and early feedback from physicians and team members has been very positive from all of those who have participated. Our ability to get healthcare right begins with consistently delivering the safest, highest quality care possible. Thank you, in advance, for your active participation in this vital training, which will serve as the bedrock foundation from which we build the TriHealth Way of Delivering Care.
Mark your calendars for next series of Team Member Forums. We’ll be kicking off our next round of Team Member Forums, with opportunities to participate in-person or through live video streaming (click here to see schedule).
We’ll discuss our FY19 progress to-date – including updates on our Strategic Priorities and Pillars Goals, and what’s ahead with the TriHealth Way. You’ll also get to meet and hear from our newly appointed Chief Nursing Executive, Jenny Skinner, MSN, RN. As always, we’ll be devoting plenty of time for discussion – so please bring your questions and feedback. Snacks, giveaways and other prizes are planned for those who join us at one of these Forums. Let’s make these Forums the best attended yet!!!!
Last call to get your flu shot – November 2 deadline! Just a few days left to get your required flu shot - something that can literally make a life or death difference for those we serve. So if you haven’t done so already, be sure to get yours before the deadline! THANK YOU for doing your part to keep our patients and our TriHealth community healthy and flu-free during the upcoming high-risk season!
Have a very safe and Happy Halloween filled with lots of treats and no tricks!
