Hi Team!
It’s hard to believe, but the holiday season is upon us once again! I hope you are getting in the festive spirit, with plans shaping up to enjoy a month filled with all things merry and bright! At TriHealth, we’re preparing to “wrap up” the 2018 calendar year with an abundance of gratitude for all we’ve accomplished, and a sense of excitement as we look ahead to the New Year and all the possibilities it brings to grow and evolve. And speaking of evolving...

Monthly Update to be phased out at year-end following successful transition to The Weekly Updates. Back in September, we launched The Weekly Update in response to team member feedback requesting less email clutter and timelier, more relevant and concise system communications. I’m happy to share that response to The Weekly Update has been overwhelmingly positive! Team members have expressed that the Weekly Updates are valuable and informative and they appreciate the condensed format. That said, it now makes sense to now phase out my Monthly Update and make a full transition to the new weekly format, which we’ll do starting in January. In addition to the time-sensitive system news bites shared each week, I’ll cover larger industry topics and more strategic system issues now addressed in my Monthly Update as part of the final Weekly Update each month. I look forward to further enhancing and improving this important system communication channel over time and welcome your continued feedback about how to do so!
Nearly 4,000 team members participate in Fall Forums. I hope you had the opportunity to participate in one of our 11 Team Member Forums that took place earlier this month at our hospitals and other major TriHealth sites. We had lots of fun and some lively discussions about our FY19 progress and the work ahead on our journey from good to great. Attendees also got to hear from our new Chief Nursing Executive, Jenny Skinner. Look for the summary Q&As collected from all the Forums to be posted on LinkNet soon.
Cardiac surgery program consolidation on-schedule. With the leadership and support of TriHealth Heart Institute physicians and team members, we are continuing our progress toward the creation of the TriHealth “Heart Hospital” – a hospital within a hospital – on the Bethesda North campus. Earlier this month, we announced plans to create the region’s destination cardiac surgery center of excellence by uniting our two cardiac surgery sites into one program at a single site. Transition plans are now well underway with multiple teams hard at work to ensure a smooth and successful outcome. The target date for transitioning designated cardiac surgical procedures to Bethesda North Campus is the second week in January. It’s important to note that the majority of non-surgical cardiovascular services will remain available at Good Samaritan Hospital and our other TriHealth locations as they are today, including medical cardiology, electrophysiology, emergent and elective angioplasty, and cardiac catheterization procedures. Additionally, we are developing processes to quickly and safely transport patients who may require cardiac surgery – wherever they are in our system -- to the new TriHealth Heart Hospital. A comprehensive marketing communications campaign is being developed to promote this exciting transformation of our nationally recognized cardiac surgery program, which when combined will be the largest and most advanced in the region. We will share further updates as we have them.
