clement-markI hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday Weekend and enjoyed some special times with family and friends in honor of all those who have bravely served our country!

With the close of May, we mark the unofficial start to summer – and just like the weather, things are heating up here at TriHealth! Following is a recap of the past month’s system news and activities, along with some highlights of what’s ahead for June.

MAY TRIHEALTH HIGHLIGHTS
• DiversityInc. Magazine recognizes TriHealth as 10th Most Diverse Health System in the U.S.
• Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicare Comprehensive Joint Replacement “Bundle” Program recognized TriHealth hospitals as highest quality performers, resulting in total shared savings of nearly $273,500 for Year 1 participation. As a result, CMS reduced its applied “discount” by half – doubling the net CMS payment TriHealth received!
• Bethesda North team members head to Miami in June to accept the Truven Top 100 Hospital Award on behalf of TriHealth and Bethesda North.

Fiscal Year 2018 Annual Plan & Budget Approved! On July 1, we kick off Fiscal Year 2018 – Year 2 of implementing our 5-year strategic plan to become the region’s only fully integrated, patient-centered system of care...and the place where our people and physicians most want to work and practice, and our community increasingly chooses to receive health care. I’m pleased to share that earlier this month, our Board approved our FY 2018 Annual Plan and Budget, which includes the investment of $190M in capital spending to support continued system growth and expansion, and a sustained commitment to team member and physician development and engagement! So look forward to another year of exciting progress and growing momentum as we continue on our journey from good to great!

Mayfield Partnership Underway to Create TriHealth Neuroscience Institute: As I shared earlier this month, we have officially launched the TriHealth Neuroscience Institute – a partnership with Mayfield Brain & Spine – to create a world-class Neurosciences Center of Excellence. The Institute will bring best-in-class neurologic and neurosurgical care close to home for our greater Cincinnati community. Over the next few years, we will invest more than $40 million in facilities, technology, staff and services at our Good Samaritan and Bethesda North hospital campuses – along with appropriate complementary investments at our TriHealth ambulatory sites to build a destination neuroscience care model for our region.

Record Setting Year for Physician Recruitment! A key contributor to becoming the region’s leading integrated healthcare system is having a robust, growing and aligned physician community, which represents all clinical disciplines and specialties. I’m pleased to share that since the start of Fiscal Year 2017 (July 1, 2016), we’ve recruited a record 82 new physicians (31 Primary Care Physicians in Internal Medicine, Family Practice and Pediatrics, 31 Specialists across varied clinical disciplines and 20 Hospitalists) – and we still have a full month to go before year-end!! Seven of those recruited were from TriHealth residencies, including 2 OBs and 5 Family Practice Physicians. This far exceeds FY16’s record of 69 physician recruits. Many thanks to our exceptional TriHealth Physician Services team for achieving these truly outstanding results!

Looking Ahead to June...
Team Member and Physician Participation Essential in Upcoming Surveys:
• Medical Staff Satisfaction Survey: June 1 – 15
• Team Member Engagement Survey: June 19 - 30

June marks an important month for assessing our progress in making TriHealth a great place to work, to practice and to receive care. To accurately understand what’s working well and what we can do better, we need your active involvement and feedback! If you receive a link to one of the online surveys above, please plan to complete it by the noted deadline. Both surveys are confidential and administered independently by Press Ganey – and take less than 10 minutes to complete. We are aiming for 100% participation, so thank you, in advance, for participating!

Save the Date: Team Member Forums Take Place June 26 – 30
Our next series of quarterly Team Member Forums takes place June 26 -30 (click below to view detailed schedule). Once again, Gail Donovan, our Chief Operating Officer, David Cook, our Chief HR Officer, and I will visit all of our major TriHealth sites to share our latest “TriHealth Way” progress and answer your questions – and of course, great snacks and participation prizes will be provided. I hope to see all of you at an upcoming session!

Thank you for all you do to make TriHealth great – for our patients and customers, for our community and for each other!
