Hi Team!

In a few short days, the holidays will be in full gear, so I’m sending my final Monthly Update a week early to kick off our year-end celebrations with a sense of pride and accomplishment in what we have achieved together over the past year.

Thanks to you – our team members, physicians, volunteers and board members – 2018 was another year of growing momentum and achievement of important milestones on our journey from good to great. Fueled by our collective commitment “to get healthcare right,” we demonstrated in many powerful ways that TriHealth is serious about bringing better care, better health and better value to a growing population of patients throughout the greater Cincinnati community who choose TriHealth as their trusted healthcare provider. In 2018, some of our many major achievements include:

  • Recognized by Watson Health as a Top 15 U.S. Health System for the third time in recent years, with two Top 100 Hospitals (Good Samaritan and Bethesda North) – fewer than 5 health systems in the nation have this distinction!
  • For the first time ever, all TriHealth hospitals received an “A” safety and quality grade in Leapfrog’s national hospital survey.
  • Recognized by Anthem Blue Cross as one of the Top Performing ACOs (Accountable Care Organization) in the nation and #1 in Ohio (click here to check out the story in the Cincinnati Business Courier)
  • Achieved a 10%+ year-over-year growth in attributed lives – from 224,000 to more than 253,000 members of our community who now choose TriHealth to help them manage their health through value or population health based agreements that TriHealth has entered into with their insurance companies.
  • Construction of the Thomas Comprehensive Care Center, the Liberty and Western Ridge Ambulatory Care Campuses on track to be completed in late 2019/2020.
  • ALL private rooms at Good Samaritan Hospital will open in April 2019.
  • Launched the Trihealth Institute for Safety, Reliability & Clinical Transformation to support our Safety/Reliability journey.
  • Began the phased consolidation of our cardiac surgery program from 2 sites to 1 site – The TriHealth Heart Hospital – which will become the region’s largest destination center of excellence for heart surgery and advanced heart failure therapies.
  • Maintained a strong A+ Standard & Poor’s credit rating, despite record downgrades and declining financial performance throughout the U.S. health industry.

As importantly, 2018 proved, once again, there is no team more caring, giving and compassionate than our TriHealth Team – as demonstrated by the success of our recently completed One Campaign. Together, we raised more than $700,000, with more donors contributing to the One Campaign than any previous TriHealth giving campaign! And, our team members rallied to donate more than 1200 pounds of canned goods and 400 toys for needy children and families throughout Cincinnati this holiday season.

My sincere thanks for all you do to live our values as you SERVE our patients, our community and each other every day. It is truly a privilege and an honor to work beside you in bringing our sacred mission of service and caring to life. I look forward to accomplishing even more together in the year ahead as we fulfill our vision to make TriHealth a place where people want to work, where physicians want to practice, and most importantly, where the community wants to go when they need the best quality, service, safety and value in healthcare.
