Hi Team!
It’s hard to believe, but this coming Labor Day Weekend marks the unoffical end of summer – where did the time go?!?! At TriHealth, it’s been a busy and productive first two months of our Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19). We’ve put our annual plans in high gear and continue to make progress on our journey from good to great – a journey to bring better care, better health, and better value to all those we serve. Following are a few highlights of the past month’s major activities:
WINS
- TriHealth wins HIMSS Davies Award for outstanding use of health information technology to substantially improve health, efficiency, and clinical quality – TriHealth was 1 of only 3 winners in Ohio and among less than 2% nationwide to receive the award.
- Aetna names Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals as Centers of Excellence (COE) for Cardiac Care – Aetna has roughly 127,130 covered lives in the Southwest Ohio market. COE facilities are recognized for demonstrating excellence in high-quality standards, patient support, efficiency, and health outcomes.
- Good Samaritan and Bethesda North Hospitals named 2018 U.S. News & World Report Top Hospitals – Good Sam was ranked the #3 hospital in Greater Cincinnati and 11th in Ohio. Bethesda North maintained its #4 ranking in Greater Cincinnati (tied with St. Elizabeth-Edgewood), and ranked 15th in Ohio. There are more than 230 hospitals in Ohio!
- Good Samaritan Hospital recognized for joint replacement achievements – The American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR), in coordination with the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), published an article spotlighting Good Samaritan Hospital’s accomplishments related to integration of evidence-based medicine, a registry, and integrated care pathways. The AJRR is the largest hip and knee arthroplasty registry in the U.S.
- TPP Ambulatory Care Coordination earns prestigious ELITE Status from California Area Physician Group (CAPG) – The award was based on data provided to CAPG that demonstrates TPP’s risk readiness based on efforts to coordinate care. The ELITE Status puts TPP among the top provider groups in the nation for care coordination excellence that, ultimately, results in improved patient outcomes.
- TriHealth donates truckloads of office furniture to Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati ReStores – Proceeds from the donation will support home building for families in need.
FY18 Progress Showcased in Year in Review Report
The end of June marked the close of FY18 and the completion of the second full year of our journey to get healthcare right and move TriHealth from good to great – and what a journey it’s been so far! While it’s important to keep our focus on the horizon ahead, it’s equally important to acknowledge and celebrate how far we’ve come. To do so, we’ve put together this TriHealth FY18 Year in Review Report.
As you review the report, I hope it brings you a sense of pride and accomplishment – your dedication and hard work are making a very real and positive difference on all fronts! Thank you for all you are doing to make TriHealth great!
New TriHealth Surgery Center at Five Mile Fully Accredited and Growing Rapidly
Our state-of-the-art, 21,000 square-foot TriHealth Surgery Center at Five Mile in Anderson began seeing patients in January and is now fully accredited to perform the full range of outpatient surgical procedures, including general surgery, endoscopy, gynecologic surgery, orthopedics, hand surgery, ear/nose/throat, facial plastics, and podiatry. The Center is focused on delivering patient/family-centered care, including pediatrics, and offers the latest technologies and minimally invasive procedures proven to enhance clinical outcomes. Since it opened its doors in January, more than 500 procedures have already been performed, giving the Anderson community convenient, neighborhood access to TriHealth’s world-class physicians and surgical services.
TriHealth/St. Elizabeth’s and Mutual of Omaha Finalize Plans to Launch a Narrow Network Medicare Advantage Plan
TriHealth and St. Elizabeth’s joint venture, “Healthcare Solutions Network,” is the first in the nation to partner with Mutual of Omaha, one of the nation’s oldest and most trusted insurance companies, to introduce an innovative, narrow network Medicare Advantage Health Plan to seniors in our community. By establishing a limited provider network, we can offer seniors a more cost-efficient, higher-quality alternative to broad network Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health insurance products. This means more seniors in our area will have affordable access to vital healthcare coverage – another win on our journey to deliver better care, better health, and better value to all those we serve. We plan to begin enrollment this fall in the new Medicare Advantage Plan, which will begin operation on January 1, 2019.
Email Clutter Minimized to Streamline and Improve System Communications
Your time is valuable and your work here is important; and we recognize it’s not a good use of anyone’s time to sort through an overwhelming amount of non-essential, general “all user” system emails each day. To cut down on unnecessary email clutter, make communications more relevant, and be more respectful of your time, we’re making some changes. We’ve established stricter guidelines for sending “all user” communications and we’ve developed a new communication tool, called, “The Weekly Update” to provide “important, need to know” system news in a more engaging, fun, and efficient way.
The Weekly Update is a new Reader’s Digest-style publication that contains a round-up of top “need to know” briefs on TriHealth system news stories, staff announcements, project updates, patient/team member stories and more, with links to read the full articles. Launching in early September, The Weekly Update will be distributed by me each Monday morning and quickly cascaded to our leadership team, who in turn, shares it with team members via communication boards, huddles/team meetings, and email. By the end of the week, all team members should have seen or heard The Weekly Update news. So be sure to start looking for The Weekly Update in your departments and let us know what you think.
