February 28, 2017
Spring training has kicked off for our home-town Cincinnati Reds, and we’re similarly getting our team here at TriHealth into great shape as well! February was marked by the continued progress and improvement – centered around increasing team member engagement in all we do -and I am happy to share some of that progress below.
Quarterly Team Member Forums: Last week, we wrapped up our latest series of quarterly Team Member Forums. Gail Donovan, Chief Operating Officer, David Cook, Chief HR Officer, Mary Irvin, Chief Nursing Officer, and I had the pleasure of participating in a two-way dialogue with more than 6,000 team members across our system about the progress we’re making on our journey from good to great. We visited most of our major TriHealth sites and were encouraged by the feedback team members shared about our new “TriHealth Way” and the positive impact it’s having on our processes, our patients and each other. A summary of common questions & answers from the Forums will be sent to all team members within the next few weeks. If you didn’t have the opportunity to attend a Forum, you can view one of the sessions from Bethesda North on LinkNet by clicking here.
Magnet Re-Designation: Yesterday, TriHealth warmly welcomed four American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet examiners who will spend four days assessing how successfully TriHealth demonstrates Magnet’s rigorous nursing excellence standards and practices. Fewer than 450 of the more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals meet Magnet standards – and even fewer organizations (only 27!) attain Magnet designation as a system. Magnet is the “gold standard” for nursing quality and clinicalexcellence, and TriHealth has proudly been a system-designated Magnetorganization since 2012.
Leadership Effectiveness Assessment: In February, all team members were given the opportunity to participate in an online Leadership Effectiveness Assessment (LEA) Survey to share their thoughts about how their leaders are doing in adopting and consistently demonstrating the new TriHealth Way of Leading. The LEA results for each leader will be shared with them in a summary report in March. Leaders will use their results to create a 90-day Action Plan to reinforce and build on what’s working, and to strengthen noted improvement areas. Thank you to all those who participated in the LEA! Your feedback is a gift to those of us who serve as leaders as we strive to adopt and master the new TriHealth Way best practices to better support our team members and ultimately delivery better care and service to our patients and community.
Always First Impressions Training: This month we launched our “Always First Impressions” training with more than 3,000 team members to begin to establish our unique and exceptional TriHealth Way of Serving “signature” patient experience for every individual we serve during every interaction with our TriHealth team. The training will be rolled out to all team members later this year.
Innovation Center and Bright Ideas Program: I’m pleased to share that we have now fully staffed our new TriHealth Innovation Center; and our Bright Ideas Program – which seeks out and implements homegrown team member innovation – is being successfully piloted at Butler and Kenwood. Butler team members have already submitted over 400 Bright Ideas since the pilot launched in January. The program will be rolled out on all TriHealth campuses before the end of June.
Bethesda North Hospital Achievement: Congratulations to Bethesda North and its team for being recognized as a 2017 Top 50 U.S. Hospital by Healthgrades!! This complements an earlier recognition of Good Sam as the 5th best hospital in Ohio by U.S. News and World Report.
I know I speak for all 800 of our leaders when I say how grateful we are for all you are doing to support our journey from good to great to make TriHealth the clear System of choice for team members, physicians and most importantly the community we serve! The outstanding progress we’ve made so far is the direct result of your enthusiastic and active participation in all of our new TriHealth Way practices! Stay tuned for a personal expression of our gratitude coming in March!
