Kathy Brafford, assistant nurse manager for Maternity Services, has been named the No. 1 Team Member of the Year for 2014 by the Bethesda Firestarters.

Kathy has been described by her co-workers as:

• Kind-hearted with a positive attitude and a spirit of goodness
• Proactive in meeting the needs of both staff and patients
• Willing to go out of her way to make sure things are done correctly

For example, Kathy recently helped a co-worker raise money for a family member who was suffering from cancer. Kathy's act of kindness made it possible for the team member to continue working.

Kathy received a special parking spot, refreshments for her department and a No. 1 Team Member certificate. She will also have her photo placed on the wall outside of the Bethesda North cafeteria.
