Jennifer Pierce RN, Labor and Delivery at Good Samaritan, has been named the Good Samaritan Firestarters No. 1 Team Member of the Month for April.

For 27 years and counting, Jenny has had a passion for reading that pushed her to start a book project for new mothers at Good Samaritan.

The project offers new mothers a book with information about the importance of reading to children, along with an invitation to begin with their newborns.

Initially, Jenny did not have the resources to provide these materials as a gift to new mothers, but she reached out to contacts like Scholastic Books and others to help get the project off the ground. In addition, Jenny hosted a packet party at her house and invited staff to help.

Now, packets are distributed one week per month to mothers who give birth.
