Jay Mitzel has been hired as director of Purchasing and Logistics.
Most recently, Jay worked as vice president of Supply Chain Services for Summa Health System in Akron. He has spent his entire career in health care supply chain services.
Jay's accomplishments include:
- Supply Chain Solucient rank of 10th percentile in cost of supplies per adjusted discharge or better for the past six years
- Development and management of supplier diversity program recognized by Premier as best in the country
- Implementation of system value analysis team to leverage market power and maximize cost reductions
- Development and leadership of regional group purchasing affiliate program to enhance supply leverage, which included owned and non-owned facilities
- Utilization of balanced scorecards approach to benchmark all facets of supply chain performance
- Development and implementation of a clinically focused supply chain approach by adding registered nurses to the supply chain team
- Evaluation and replacement of ERP System from PeopleSoft to Lawson enhancing automation, which enhanced reporting capabilities and improved service levels to customer base
- Installation of point-of-use system to automate supply chain transactional data input and inventory management.
- Implementation of an automated contract-management system and an automated product-recall process to meet Joint Commission compliance requirements.
