James Maher MD, Ph.D. is the new physician executive of the TriHealth Cancer Institute, starting Dec. 1.

Dr. Maher joined TriHealth in 2002 and practices as a medical oncologist within the TriHealth Cancer Institute. He has served as the medical director of operations, overseeing implmementation of Beacon chemotherapy protocols within EPIC, and has been an integral part of the development of TriHealth Cancer Institute.

In addition, Dr. Maher serves on a National Advisory Committee for EPIC technology and oncology care. 

Dr. Maher received his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency locally at Jewish Hospital. He completed a subsequent fellowship in medical oncology/clinical trial protocols at the James Cancer Hospital, Ohio State University Medical Center.

He is certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Maher replaces Jose Barreau MD, who will leave the practice of medicine at the end of November.
