Bethesda North and Good Samaritan have been ranked as two of the best hospitals in the city, state, and country by U.S. News & World Report. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals ranking recognizes hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

Bethesda North, ranked 21st nationally in the category of Pulmonology and 49th in Orthopedics, was one of 147 facilities - roughly three percent of 4,806 analyzed - to be nationally ranked in even one of the categories. Bethesda North was also recognized as high performing in 10 other categories including: Cancer care, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology and GI surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Urology.

Good Samaritan was recognized as a high performing hospital in twelve different categories, including Cancer care, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Gastroenterology and GI surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Urology.

"This accomplishment is a credit to the skills, knowledge and dedication of the physicians, nurses and staff at Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals," said Dr. John R. Robinson, Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations at TriHealth. "Both Bethesda North and Good Samaritan continue to provide exceptional care in a wide spectrum of categories. This award is representative of the outstanding quality care people have come to expect from our hospitals."

U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. In most specialties, it ranks the nation's top 50 hospitals and recognizes other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.

"A hospital that emerges from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of," said Avery Comarow, U.S. News Health Rankings Editor. "Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region's best."
