Bethesda North and Good Samaritan both have been recognized for their environmental stewardship. Awards recently received by the hospitals include:

  • The Practice Greenhealth (PGH) 2013 Partner for Change Award
  • The Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award

The Partner for Change Award is one of PGH's Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the health care sector.  The OHA Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award recognizes hospitals for promoting sound practices through environmental stewardship. Twelve hospitals from around the state were named recipients of the award, with Bethesda North and Good Samaritan being the only two Cincinnati hospitals named.

Both hospitals cut energy consumption over 25 percent, and are among 18 other hospitals in the nation to be recognized by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association. Overall, Bethesda North hospital reduced energy consumption use by 25 percent in the last year while Good Samaritan reduced energy use by 30 percent.
