Much like new methods of treatment and medications, information technology advancements have worked to transform health care.
Health IT, specifically electronic health records, helps improve the quality of health care delivery, increases patient safety, reduces errors and strengthens the relationship between patients and health care providers.
Health care organizations across the U.S. are recognizing those behind-the-scenes improvements during National Health IT Week, Sept. 15 through 19. With more than 400 partners, NHIT Week brings health IT into the spotlight.
Among many other health IT initiatives, TriHealth has led the way in electronic health record implementation, achieving a paperless environment and earning a Stage 7 Award from HIMSS Analytics, given to health care providers that operate without paper records and represent best practices in EHR adoption.
