Celebrate National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Week from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6.

The week, established in 2010, marks the transition between National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and aims to spotlight hereditary cancer.

The week recognizes those with BRCA mutations, family history of cancer, survivors of breast and ovarian cancer. and previvors - those who carry a strong predisposition to cancer, but haven't developed it.

The week also recognizes previvors - those who carry a strong disposition to cancer, but haven't developed it. Wednesday, Oct. 1 is National Previvor Day.

An estimated 75,000 Americans carry an inherited BRCA mutation, but nearly 90 percent of them don't know their risk. National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Week works to help change that. For more information, go to facingourrisk.org.
