Good Samaritan recently hosted four health care professionals from Sweden who wanted to learn more about our cancer services, EPIC and community outreach to at risk populations. Silvia Määttä, Anna Pilström, Anna Ringheim and  Frida Smith work in the areas of quality improvement in health care systems, Med/Surg nursing, oncology, oncology research, or nursing research in Sweden.

While at Good Samaritan, they:

  • attended a clinical trials forum
  • visited 14CD to tour the floor and patient rooms
  • toured the Outpatient Cancer Center
  • met with Joann Scherpenberg, of TriHealth I.S., to learn how communication occurs between inpatient and outpatient oncology services, as well as general information about EPIC
  • met with Deborah Standafer, Clinical Research Administrator, Oncology, of the Hatton Institute, to talk about clinical trials and the research process at Good Samaritan
  • met with Pat Bacchus of TriHealth Women's Services - who hosted the visitors - to learn about the Healthy Women, Healthy Lives program and our community outreach to at-risk populations of women.

The visitors attended a conference in Chicago and then visited Good Samaritan and the UC Acton Research Center.

There are plans to continue the relationship in the future, though nothing is firm at this time.
