Fernside - A Center for Grieving Children received a $10,000 grant from The Andrew Jergens Foundation in support of their outreach efforts.

The grant will be used to sustain in-school groups throughout Greater Cincinnati by assisting with supplies, professional staff salaries and travel expenses.

"We are excited to receive this grant award from The Andrew Jergens Foundation," said Vicky Ott, Fernside executive director.

The gift will help fund Fernside's School Program, which provides on-site grief support to students during the school day. The program also provides crisis response to both faculty and staff after the death of a teacher or student.

"Support from generous donors like The Andrew Jergens Foundation makes it possible for us to offer all of our services at no cost and we are proud to count the Foundation among our friends who support the grieving children and families we serve," Ott said.

The Andrew Jergens Foundation was established on Aug. 24, 1962, in Cincinnati by Andrew N. Jergens (1881-1967). The Foundation has a special working relationship with The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, which are both in the business of giving to make a profound difference in the quality of life in our community.

The Andrew Jergens Foundation's prime interest is the health, education, cultural experiences and social welfare of children in the Greater Cincinnati area. It supports programs that benefit children, generally through high school age.

Fernside serves the Greater Cincinnati area, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, providing grief support and advocacy for all children and their families. Fernside is an affiliate of Hospice of Cincinnati and wholly supported out of their mission. All of Fernside's services are free.
