Two months after a frozen pipe burst and flooded Physician Associates of Good Samaritan - Delhi, the location reopened its doors.
TriHealth doctors and staff began welcoming patients at the renovated primary care practice March 10, following extensive repairs to the interior, which was damaged by more than 18 inches of water.
"Based on the extent of the damage, achieving March 10 as the reopening was outstanding," said George Isfort, practice operations director for TriHealth Physician Practices.
The two-story building incurred damage to the ceilings, drywall, floors, heating and cooling ducts, phone and computer switches and furniture. Staff from several TriHealth departments worked quickly with local firm R.J. Beischel Building Co. to begin repairs the second week of January, Isfort said.
In addition to making repairs, crews transformed a previously unused X-ray room into a space for group patient visits. New furniture and updated external signs also were installed.
Immediately after the flood and throughout the repair process, several TriHealth departments and locations worked together to provide uncompromised care for patients of the Delhi practice.
Kim Jones, chief operating officer for TriHealth Physician Practices, stressed "the importance of the value of being part of a system and the teamwork involved."
"We assembled the right people around the table to be able to make decisions quickly and keep the project moving at a rapid pace to try to minimize the amount of time that the physicians and patients were displaced," Jones said.
Physicians at the practice were impressed with the initial response to the flood.
"More than one of us physicians commented on how fortunate we were to be part of a health system, and how we couldn't imagine having to handle a situation like this as a solo practitioner," Antonio Rojas MD, one of the Delhi practice's physicians, said in January.
Four other physicians practice at the location: Drs. Joseph Huschart, Rhazi Khodadad, Scott Massa and Raymond Metzger.
