TriHealth Bridge

June 28, 2019

“It was such wonderful news!” explains Joanna Sonnefeld, Applications Architect who has worked for TriHealth for fourteen years.  “I saw an article on LinkNet about a past winner and informed my daughter, Kelly, about the scholarship. She is going into her senior year at the University of Dayton and I think it is important for people to know that you can still apply for scholarships even after your freshman year.”

“I’ve tried to get involved and make the most of my time,” explains Kelly who is not only a member of UD EMS, a student-run volunteer Emergency Medical Services organization composed of undergraduate UD students, but is also a volunteer in the Dayton Children’s Hospital Family Resource Connection, which helps families get connected to community resources to fill social needs. She is currently getting ready to apply for medical school.

“I’ve loved my time at the University of Dayton! I have had such a wonderful experience here and I am very grateful for this scholarship.  Thank you so much to TriHealth and HORAN for making this scholarship a possibility.”

After graduation, Kelly plans to attend medical school with the goal of a career in pediatrics. Maybe one day she will join her mom as a TriHealth team member.

HORAN, a broker of TriHealth’s benefits, offers scholarships at five local universities: University of Dayton, Xavier University, University of Cincinnati, Miami University and Wright State University.  The winners are chosen by the universities based upon academic merit and financial need.
