The Mary Jo Cropper Family Center for Breast Care, located in the Bethesda North Outpatient Imaging Center, has received its second, full three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The Breast Center is the only center in the Greater Cincinnati area to receive the accreditation.“At Bethesda North Hospital, our top priorities are quality, safety and service. We are proud to receive full accreditation again by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Center,” said Barbra Boyne, executive director, hospital operations, Bethesda North. “It’s not the recognition that makes us proud, but rather, the validation that our focus on quality, safety and service is working, and our patients are receiving the best care possible.”
Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. During the survey process, the center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement. A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
“This accreditation is important to patients as it provides them the reassurance that the facility where they are being treated offers coordinated, multi-disciplinary evaluation and care by a team of breast health experts,” said Susan Weinberg MD, diagnostic radiologist and co-director of the Center.
