TriHealth's Bethesda Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program is expanding its outpatient treatment options to include medications that have been shown to improve the recovery experience. The newest medication that will be offered, Suboxone, has proven more effective than previous treatments in those recovering from addiction to opiates, including prescription medications and heroin. The medication is effective for:

  • Treating withdrawal symptoms
  • Increasing the likelihood of a person remaining in a recovery program
  • Reducing the likelihood of relapses

This treatment has been endorsed by the state of Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.

Other medications that provide support for alcohol and drug addiction recovery are available in the program as prescribed by Medical Director Raymond Hellmann MD, ABAM.  Dr. Hellmann is approved as an addiction specialist by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and has been recognized as one of Cincinnati Magazine's top physicians for internal medicine.
