Hi Team —

The countdown to Healthcare Appreciation Week is on!!! Throughout all of next week, we will celebrate and show our appreciation to you…the very best healthcare team anywhere…with recognitions, giveaways and fun activities!

In fact, the fun has already begun. Don’t forget that you can nominate a TriHealth Unsung Hero – a team member or physician whose “above and beyond” contributions deserve recognition for making a meaningful difference. All Unsung Hero nominees and those who nominate them will be entered into a random drawing to each receive one of twenty $100 gift cards. The deadline to submit your nomination is this Friday, May 9. Visit Bridge for all the details.

Be sure to check your email next Wednesday morning, May 14, for a special “Healthcare Appreciation Week” edition of Weekly Update. And then plan to join us at noon next Wednesday for our Healthcare Appreciation Week Team Member Town Hall livestream on Bridge!

Honoring Our Nurses During National Nurses Week

  • As we prepare to celebrate all TriHealth team members and physicians during Healthcare Appreciation Week, we are also taking time this week to recognize and thank our 4,000+ incredible TriHealth nurses during National Nurses Week!
  • Celebrated every year from May 6-12 to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, National Nurses Week is our chance to honor our nursing team for their service and unwavering dedication to Getting Healthcare Right for every patient they serve, every day…always!
  • The festivities kicked off last night at the Cintas Center during our Annual Nursing Recognition Dinner where more than 250 attendees honored TriHealth nurses for their professional advancements and nursing excellence in the past year!

  • Nursing units across TriHealth will be celebrating their nurses with fun local activities, and we’ll be featuring daily prize drawings on Bridge for our nurses all week.
  • So please be sure to thank a nurse this week – and every week for all they do and the roles they play as part of the best healthcare team anywhere working together to deliver surprisingly human care to every patient, always!

Be Seen. Be Heard. Be TriHealth.: Sharing Nursing Stories About What Makes TriHealth Special

  • In recognition of National Nurses Week, it’s only appropriate to share this brief video featuring one of our many amazing TriHealth nurses, Mary Korengel.
  • Next month, Mary will celebrate a major milestone anniversary…40 years as a TriHealth nurse! After serving the majority of her career as a hospice and palliative care nurse with Hospice of Cincinnati, Mary felt it was time for a career change. But she knew there was no place like TriHealth, so she found a new role with Presurgical Services at Bethesda North where she continues her service today.
  • While healthcare has changed significantly over the past 40 years, Mary notes that what has remained constant is the support she has felt from her fellow team members and leaders.
  • Mary’s story is one of many inspiring stories happening every day across our system… evidence that our employer brand promise is authentic and proof of why TriHealth is increasingly seen as the employer of choice in our region!

Celebrating the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals

  • For many, Spring is the season for graduations. And that’s certainly the case here at TriHealth where we’ve recently celebrated the graduations of two very important groups of future healthcare professionals!
  • On April 22, the Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science hosted their Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains with their largest graduating class ever… 87 students!
    • And, we celebrated the first Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology graduating class with eight students – seven of whom have already accepted positions at TriHealth!
    • This graduating class included 64 Associate of Applied Science in Nursing graduates, nine Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates, four Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology graduates, one Medical Assistant graduate, and one Associate of Applied Science in Health Science graduate.
  • And last week I had the privilege of joining Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) Superintendent Shauna Murphy at Good Samaritan Hospital in the celebration of 29 CPS high school seniors who graduated from our innovative School to Work (STW) program.
    • The largest graduating cohort in STW program history, 24 students are now college bound with plans to pursue careers in healthcare.
    • A collaboration between TriHealth and CPS, STW gives CPS high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to gain real-life healthcare experience by rotating through and working in various departments and clinical settings at Good Samaritan Hospital.
    • Since launching in 2019, nearly 125 students have participated in the STW program, resulting in more and more high school students choosing careers in healthcare. Special thanks to our two sponsors, bi3 and CommonSpirit, who make this program possible through their generous funding.
  • Congratulations and best wishes to all of our GSC and STW program graduates! We look forward to welcoming you back and serving beside you at TriHealth soon!
