Certified Nurses Day is celebrated every year on March 19. TriHealth will celebrate Certified Nurses Day by honoring 1,200 board-certified nurses for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care. Our most up-to-date data, from CY23, shows the percentage of specialty certified nurses at TriHealth is around 35% percent!
As healthcare and the nursing profession become more complex and specialized, board-certified nurses play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of care for patients and families. Board certification ensures that nurses meet minimum standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities in their specialty practice, which contributes to improved patient outcomes.
“Certification represents a validation that you have reached an objectively verified level of excellence in your nursing practice,” says Cindy Adams, PhD, RN, ANP-BC & NEA-BC, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Executive. “In 1987 I was the first nurse at my hospital to obtain a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification. Since then, I have pursued various certifications throughout my career as a formal designation of my commitment to excellence in every role. I currently hold dual certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Executive – Advanced (ANP-BC and NEA-BC). I encourage all TriHealth nurses to explore the value of certification as an opportunity to advance your nursing career and achieve a standard level of preparation and competency for providing the best patient care.”
TriHealth encourages national board certification for all nurses and covers the cost up to $400 a year for certification examination and certification renewal for those nurses who meet the TriHealth Certification Eligibility Guidelines. In addition, nurses can participate in review courses supported in part by gifts made to the Good Samaritan and Bethesda Foundations. Please join TriHealth and the nation’s national nursing certification organizations in honoring those hardworking, dedicated, certified nurses for their professionalism and a job well done!
