TriHealth Bridge

February 14, 2024

Bethesda North Hospital has opened its newly renovated eighth floor that includes more than 40 state-of-the-art, comfort-enhanced patient rooms. A ceremonial ribbon cutting with team members, physicians, senior leaders, donors and community representatives was held on Monday, February 12 (see photos below).

The revamped wing will provide enhanced care for patients undergoing treatments including surgical oncology and cardio-thoracic surgery. The floor’s upgrades are designed to reinforce patient safety though the latest in healthcare monitoring technology and design aesthetics while also providing for patients’ families.

The new patient rooms are the latest investment into Bethesda North, and part of a long-term strategy to develop the region’s destination heart and vascular program.

In 2018, TriHealth began this effort through the consolidation of its heart surgery programs to the Bethesda North campus, resulting in greater standardization of care leading to better outcomes. In 2022, Bethesda North opened a new cardiac catheterization lab, giving TriHealth nine cath labs and procedure rooms. TriHealth also expanded the hospital’s first-floor cardiovascular ICU to ensure patients had access to the best heart and vascular care available.

TriHealth’s investments in cardiovascular care were affirmed in 2022 following a clinical affiliation with Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute, the world’s leading heart program.

“TriHealth is committed to fixing our nation’s broken health care system by providing the right care at the right place at the right time for the right cost to deliver the right and best outcomes. This is why we committed to investing in Bethesda North’s cardiac care programs six years ago, and why we are pleased to showcase our latest renovations to patients today,” said TriHealth President and CEO Mark C. Clement. “As we continue advancing our journey toward zero patient harm, patient safety remains TriHealth’s top priority. And that includes delivering on our promise that patients are cared for and comfortable before, during and after procedures. Bethesda North’s newest rooms will ensure TriHealth’s dedicated physicians, clinicians and team members can meet each patient’s uniquely specific health care needs.”

The hospital’s 44 new rooms include the latest in-patient monitoring and fall prevention technology, all of which will enhance patient safety. The rooms are also larger than traditional hospital rooms so family members visiting or staying overnight with patients will feel more comfortable.

“TriHealth understands that Getting Healthcare Right means providing for more than a patient’s acute, physical needs,” Clement said. “We know hospitals stays can be stressful for patients as well as their families, which is why Bethesda North’s newest rooms were designed to accommodate both patients and their families. Creating space to keep families close during treatment and recovery is essential to making sure patients are seen, heard and healed.”
