The Bethesda Foundation recently awarded the Patton & Haveman Scholarship.
In October of 2021, Pat Patton and Julia Miller began deciding how best to give back to their community and who would be best served by these gifts. Moved by the heroic efforts of healthcare workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and inspired by the incredible care they have received from nurses over the years, they established the $10,000 Grace M Patton and Gloria J Haveman Nursing Scholarship. Named in honor of their mothers, the purpose of the scholarship is to be an incentive to beginning or completing an educational career path in nursing.
In the spring of 2024, the third Patton & Haveman scholarship award was given to Ashley Brandenburg, a nursing student at the University of Cincinnati. Julia Miller and Corinne Patton had the opportunity to meet Ashley recently and discuss the impact of this scholarship and her plans for her future.
